The Soarlands soar to new heights as Birdfolk glide amid towering cliffs, scripting tales of freedom across azure sky.
In the Sunfire Expanse, a once-vibrant savannah now offers the challenge of survival amidst golden dunes, whilst the Moondrop Wilds pulses with the rhythms of nocturnal enchantments beneath an ancient, moonlit giant. Aurora's mysteries are waiting to be uncovered... while Sirena's submerged palaces and bioluminescent gardens conjure an aquatic symphony of color and mystery.
Scattered like gems across boundless seas, the Dragonstone Archipelago holds echoes of forgotten battles, where Kaleidosian resilience thrives amidst the remnants of an ancient conflict. Ignisar, a realm where every step is an invitation to thrill, promises grand adventure and untold marvels for those who dare to step into its fiery embrace.
But long ago, the world looked very different....
Long ago...
How the continent of Ignisar was created is something that isn’t understood nor comprehended, it is mostly just speculated about... Yet what everyone can agree upon is that this world, must have come from some 'Spark', a cosmic event that birthed the dual forces of creation and destruction.
Scholars say that Ignisar and the realms that surround it already existed, but that they were left abandoned by their original inhabitants. A few archaeologists claim to have found relics that predate Ignisar... But can such things be proven?
It is speculated that the first celestials and fiends were written into existence during the everlasting struggle between two cosmic forces titled "The Fates" and "The Void." But to the everyday inhabitants of Ignisar, the outer realms and all these fantastical stories are an elusive enigma. Most don't bother with acquiring knowledge about it, their lives are already difficult enough.... But what stories lie beyond the borders of Ignisar?
How the first intelligent beings arrived on Ignisar is an enigma. Did they evolve? Were they brought here by some divine force? Or born from the earth itself? Each race has their own beliefs about it, but true answers have been lost to time.
Humanity
No other race can thrive in so many diverse lands or environments as Humans. Although weak with magic, their adaptability makes them able to thrive anywhere.
Scholars from The Kingdom of Arnewynd theorized that humanity may have evolved from great apes, yet some dismissed those theories to believe that humankind was brought to Ignisar by a mysterious entity. Humans were once the dominant species on Ignisar, but after the destruction of the kingdom of Arnewynd, they've struggled to hold their ground.
Luminary
Magical people of otherworldly grace; their lifespan easily outpace that of other races. Luminary are highly adaptable, but instead of changing their surroundings, they adapt themselves to match their new environment.
How the Luminary were born is an even greater enigma, Some theorized that they may have been born from mysterious realm of Dreams. Other scholars have theorized that the High Luminary came from of a outer realm referred to Alfheim.
But who can confirm the real truth?
Dwarvenkind
Proud artisans, builders, and warriors. Although the glory of their great empires faded long ago, they stubbornly defend what remains of their old domains and some seek to reclaim what they have lost.
Dwarves are said to have come from the earth itself, yet scholars have theorized that they have some connection to an ancient realm named Niðavellir...
Dragonfolk
Proud, honorable and relatively rare. As with all stories of the ancient past, tales of the origins of the Dragonfolk are hazy and sometimes contradictory.
Born from dragons and once meant to be their followers or servants, they are now a free people looking for a place and purpose in this new world.
As civilizations flourished in Ignisar, Humans, Luminary, Dwarves, Dragonfolk and new races such as the Pouchfoots and Hordelings began to explore the vast realm, leading to both peaceful and hostile encounters.
Initially, conflicts arose over new territories and precious resources, notably the mysterious Moonstone. This powerful material was fiercely contested, leading to the Moonstone Conflict. The High Luminary claimed the Moonstone, leaving the once lush Sunfire Savannah a barren desert and igniting deep resentment among the other races.
Shortly after, the Kaleidoscope phenomena transformed the skies and scattered magical gemstones across Ignisar. This event introduced the Gemspires in the Dragonfolk's Archipelago, sparking whispers of powerful draconic energy. The Dragonfolk, who began to transmute and gain stronger connections to the arcane, became known as the Kaleidosian and viewed these pillars as sacred.
Tensions escalated when the High Luminary attempted to claim the Gemspires, asserting that, like the Moonstone, they were divine gifts meant for them. However, the Kaleidosian fiercely defended their new power. Meanwhile, humanity's rapid creation and advancements in a new technology named "Magitech" further complicated matters, leveling the playing field against the Luminary's arcane prowess.
As negotiations failed and frustrations grew, the High Luminary and Humanity began unauthorized colonization of the Dragonfolk's Archipelago. Their aggressive expansion and attempts to seize control of the Gemspires led to open conflict, marking the start of a bitter war that would change Ignisar forever.
In a bid to overwhelm the Luminary army, humanity turned to dark and forbidden experiments, combining animal subjects with the corrupted blood of Hordelings. These creatures, known as the Subjuforged, were highly intelligent but void of free will, compelled to obey their masters without question. This mutation, spread through contact with blood and saliva, allowed humanity to corrupt the animal companions of the Luminary, creating a growing force of Subjuforged.
The Therianthropic Convergence was a cataclysmic event that reshaped the Ignisar, brought about by humanity's desperate attempts to gain the upper hand over their Luminary adversaries.
A world-altering phenomenon so significant that it is said that whatever god or gods there are, were forced to intervene, as the conflict between Humankind and the Luminary threatened to annihilate all of Ignisar.
The convergence was a pivotal moment that changed the course of history. As these new beings awakened to their own consciousness, chaos erupted across the realm. The sudden sentience of the Subjuforged and other experimented animals led to the downfall of many established civilizations.
The human 'Kingdom of Arnewynd' fell into disarray, unable to control the beings they had created. The outposts of the Archipelago were destroyed or abandoned as the Subjuforged turned on their former masters. Dwarven communities were forced to retreat deep underground, and the Luminary pushed back to their own lands..
Now, 249 years later, the world looks very, very different...
